This was my very first ethnographic and photojournalistic research assignment, which has influenced my approach to many projects to this day. In the first step, the challenge was to research and tell visual stories about the strategies the indigenous Kichwa people in Yasuní and Cuyabeno National Parks use to cope with the consequences of illegal crude oil extraction and palm oil monoculture in the Amazon. The second step was to translate and design the indigenous knowledge gained into an innovation strategy for a mental health tool.
